Brendan McGeehan, David Rose, and Jim Hamilton are the creators of the project “Singing Nina: a cultural festival and conference,” a new fiscally-sponsored project of Fractured Atlas. “Singing Nina” is a one day, multi-location event held in the Germantown section of Philadelphia on Sunday, May 19, 2019. Presented by Germantown Arts, the mission is to celebrate the life and music of the cultural icon, Nina Simone.

How has Fractured Atlas benefitted your income generation?
Being a fiscally-sponsored project of Fractured Atlas opens up possibilities for corporate sponsorship by offering tax deductible donations as an option and allows us to apply for grants.

What specific Fractured Atlas services/programs have you used?
Artful.ly is a great interface that we are using to sell tickets to our event.

Why do you think artists and organizations should become members of Fractured Atlas?
Trying to become our own 501c3 was overwhelming and seemed daunting. It was so easy to apply for fiscal sponsorship through Fractured Atlas.

Funding continues to be a challenge and we are in the process of fundraising for our event.

Do you have any upcoming events that people should know about?
Our “Singing Nina” cultural festival and conference is being held on Sunday, May 19th.

What is your biggest accomplishment as a result of being a Fractured Atlas member?
Our biggest accomplishment has been having the ability to apply for grants for the first time!
