Using Social Media to Grow Your Arts Practice (Guest Post)

Tips and Tools | Arts | Fundraising | Social Media

Twenty years ago, most thriving small businesses and nonprofits had one fabulous public relations person, one techie sorting out what emails and websites were all about, and one executive director who could solicit fundraising dollars by hosting a cocktail event.

Fast forward to 2018, and everything is about real time, instant gratification and, more importantly, appreciation. Fractured Atlas has partnered with JMT Media to learn more about how for-profit entities can connect with the nonprofit sectors through visibility, partnerships, and strategic outreach.

In social media, the various platforms can tend to be overwhelming, especially if the operational team has limited staff. In order to manage the allocated time efficiently, below are some of the variables to consider:

  • Where is your audience online? (Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, etc)
  • Do your constituents like to be updated frequently?
  • Do you have a content calendar to keep your monthly theme or focus centralized?

A huge part of social media is not just randomly posting content, but strategically posting content that can be aligned with one or more for-profit brands. Increasing visibility, even on a grassroots and local level, can increase overall brand awareness. This type of organic brand awareness can provide a foundation for a basic conversation regarding donor cultivation or product donations. Below are some ways to think outside the box and connect with for-profit entities:

  • What are your three main “selling” points?
  • Do you have secondary and tertiary needs for your organization?
  • Do you or your board have a rolodex and don’t know where to begin?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you definitely want to join the FREE workshop.

If you’d like to hear more about how to utilize social media to grow your nonprofit, please join Fractured Atlas and JMT Media for our webinar on Monday, April 23 at 7pm EDT.
