Fractured Atlas is seeking a full-time Development Associate to serve as a member of its External Relations team. The position provides the primary support for a growing individual giving program and also assists with administrative tasks related to fundraising from all sources. The Development Associate processes and acknowledges gifts to Fractured Atlas and helps to maintain the sophisticated customized donor database.

The position also assists the Vice President of External Relations (VPER) and Development Manager’s efforts to steward relationships with key program officers, corporate executives, and government officials. In connection with Fractured Atlas’s growing major gifts program, the position supports such activities as researching prospects, scheduling meetings, managing cultivation events, and acknowledging donors. The Development Associate reports to the Vice President of External Relations.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This is how you will spend the bulk of your day:

  • Annual fund individual giving program: Process written requests to current and past donors and prospects; Help to pull and manage lists for appeals; Support donor acquisition; Process and acknowledge gifts; Support cultivation and stewardship of donors and prospects, including events, correspondence, and other communication.
  • Work with the VPER and Community Engagement Specialist to design and implement e-appeals and an online presence for development.
  • Help to measure and analyze returns on appeals with an eye toward maximizing results of future mailings and e-appeals.
  • Prepare and process acknowledgement letters to all donors of gifts of $1,000 or more.
  • Help produce member and donor cultivation events in collaboration with the External Relations and Programs teams in New York City.
  • Support Executive Director and VPER to manage annual Board solicitations.

Here’s some spice to change it up from time to time:

  • Help to pull and manage invitation and response lists for events.
  • Under the supervision of the VPER, collaborate with the Development Manager on the management of proposals and reporting to government agencies and requests to elected officials.
  • Update and enhance donor solicitation materials, and oversee production of and updates to Development Information Package materials.
  • Collaborate with Development Manager to maintain electronic files for a paperless office.
  • Carry out special projects as they arise.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • First-hand experience working in fundraising.
  • Outstanding writing skills and a flawless attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment; ability to handle multiple projects and deliver an impeccable work product while adapting to frequent, rapid changes.
  • Self-motivated and hyper-organized with the ability to manage responsibilities independently while working with a small, tight-knit staff.
  • Facility and strong comfort level with fundraising databases.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, MailChimp, and experience with web-based software required.

COMPENSATION

Starting salary is $41,336. Benefits include health insurance, employer-contributed 401K plan, TransitChek, tuition reimbursement, vacation, sick and personal days, and a casual but hard-working, friendly and supportive office environment.
