Every month, Fractured Atlas provides a list of upcoming grants and opportunities for artists and arts-based projects so that you can discover more opportunities to get financial support and other resources for your work. As a fiscal sponsor of over 3,500 artistic projects, we provide access to grants for artists in every discipline.

In Cahoots Residency in Sonoma County, California, provides housing and studio space to both emerging and professional artists in a variety of mediums, with a focus on artists books, letterpress, printmaking, writing, and collaboration. As an additional option, artists may choose to come for a collaborative residency session. There is a $25 application fee.

Artadia Awards: San Francisco Bay Area

The Artadia Awards provide financial support, exposure and recognition to artists. The awards are unrestricted, allowing artists to use the $15,000 in funds in any way they choose. Applicants must be a contemporary visual artist, making artwork for presentation in a contemporary art context. There is no application fee.

Anolic Family Awards

The Anolic Family Awards have two awards with an early June deadline to apply. The Naomi Anolic Early Career Jewish Visual Arts Award is an award of $1,000 towards the completion of a specific project by an active early career Jewish visual artist between the ages of 25 and 35, working in the medium of painting, drawing, sculpture, or mixed media. The Isaac Anolic Jewish Book Arts Award is an award of $1,500 towards the creative of a unique, one-of-a-kind, or limited edition, work of art in the field of Jewish book arts.

Mira Fellowship

Each year the Mira Fellowship accepts a small cohort from across the globe with visions of our cultural future. Selected mid-career applicants will work individually and gather several times during the fellowship to share their research and build on each other's ideas. An Early Bird deadline of May 1 requires no application. There is a $10 application fee for submissions between May 1 and 15. There is a $20 application fee between May 15 and the deadline.

Film Lab logo

72 Hour Shootout

Film Lab's 72 Hour Shootout filmmaking competition creates a valuable opportunity for filmmakers of color—focusing on Asian American filmmakers—and women, as well as other underrepresented groups, to demonstrate their talent, gain exposure in the entertainment industry and impact the visibility of diverse stories and characters in film. Filmmaking teams are given a common theme at the start of the Shootout and then have 72 hours to write, shoot, edit, and complete short films up to five minutes in length. There is a $55 fee to register before the end of May, and a $65 fee to register in June before the deadline.

Headlands Residency & Awards

Headlands Center for the Arts is accepting applications for its Artist in Residence program and two artist awards. The Artist in Residence program offers fully sponsored residencies and studios to local, national, and international artists working in all disciplines. There is a $35 application fee. The Chamberlain Award is a fully sponsored artist residency and $10,000 prize to support an artist working in the social practice discipline. The Chiaro Award is a fully sponsored artist residency and $15,000 prize for two mid-career painters residing in the United States. There is a $25 application fee for each award.

Queer | Art | Awards is an initiative of grants, prizes, and residencies that includes a spectrum of support—monetary and otherwise—for LGBTQ+ artists. The Illuminations Grant for Black Trans Women Visual Artists awards $10,000 to an existing body of work, shedding light on the under-recognized contributions of Black trans women visual artists and provides critical support to their continuing work. The Robert Giard Grant for Emerging LGBTQ+ Photographers supports the creation of work by emerging LGBTQ+ photographers whose projects address issues of sexuality, gender, or LGBTQ+ identity.
